Alex Carter began his teaching career as a Social Studies teacher in 1994 after graduating from James Madison University with a BA in History and Secondary Eduation. In 1999, Mr. Carter was asked to serve as Social Studies Department Chair at Hylton HS. In 2001, Mr. Carter recieved his M.Ed in K-12 School Adminstration and Supervision from the University of Virginia. In 2003, Mr. Carter was recognized as one of the top educators in the United States with his selection to receive a National Milken Educator Award. In 2004-2005, Mr. Carter served as Assistant Principal at Osbourn Park High School in Manassas, VA. From 2005-2007, Mr. Carter served as Principal of Brentsville District High School in Nokesville, VA. In the summer of 2007, Mr. Carter moved his family to Telluride and took on a leadership roll in Telluride School District as the Principal of Telluride High School. He is scheduled to complete his doctoral degree (Ed.D) through Walden University in September, 2010.
